International Nurses’ Day is celebrated annually on 12 May in memory of the founder of modern nursing, Florence Nightingale.

Every year there is a different theme and for 2025 it is: "Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies." This year’s message from the International Council of Nurses emphasizes the critical role of nurses in building healthier societies and stronger economies. It calls for investing in nurses’ well-being, workplace safety, and long-term support.
